The Heads of Government (the Authority) of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) established the High Commission for the Countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States in Ottawa, Canada, in 1982. It was created for the principal purpose of maintaining and promoting the political, economic and social interests of OECS Member States in Canada. The governments represented by the High Commission are Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Christopher (Kitts) and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Mission works to enhance awareness of the interests of it Member States by enhancing its visibility within the National Capital Region and throughout Canada; promoting and protecting the interests of OECS people, and promoting the Countries of the OECS as desirable trade and investment opportunities to Canadian investors. Additionally, the High Commission seeks to identify and access sources of international development assistance and conducts and facilitates negotiations on behalf of Member Governments. The High Commission also oversees the Labour Liaison’s Office for the Seasonal Farm Workers Programme.
